When Healing Is Incomplete: Understanding Post-Surgical Scarring After Hip Arthroscopy
Many people experience significantly less pain and improved mobility after hip arthroscopy. However, some patients continue to have symptoms – often without a clear cause. Doch bei einigen Betroffenen bleiben Beschwerden bestehen – oft ohne klare Ursache.
One possible explanation is fine scarring within the hip joint, known as labral adhesions. These can restrict mobility and cause pain, but are until now difficult to detect with MRI scans.
This research project is developing a new method to make such scarring more visible and easier to interpret on MRI.
For patients, this means more precise diagnoses, better-matched treatments, and more realistic expectations about the healing process.
