Optimizing Perioperative Care Pathways in Distal Radius Fracture Surgery: Clinical Outcomes, Resource Utilization and Socioeconomic Impact

Fractures near the wrist joint of the radius bone, also known as distal radius fractures, are among the most common fractures of the human body.

Thanks to major medical advances, the treatment of these injuries is already at a very high level today. Nevertheless, current findings show that even the smallest innovations in the treatment process can have a major impact – both on patients' recovery and on the efficiency and sustainability of our healthcare system.

This is exactly where this research project comes in. It examines individual steps in the surgical treatment of such fractures in a targeted way, to gain insights for process optimization and implement them. In doing so, the focus is not only on medical outcomes but also on the responsible use of resources and the health-economic impact.
